Youth in Agriculture Fellowship Program (YAFP)

At Walisha, we believe Africa’s youth represent the future of food security and agricultural development on the continent. To tap this immense potential, we are launching the Youth in Agriculture Fellowship to attract top young talent and equip them with the skills, experience and resources to create successful and impactful agribusinesses.

The selective one-year fellowship identifies high-achieving graduates passionate about agriculture and puts them through rigorous classroom and field-based learning modules developed in conjunction with leading universities and research centers. Soil sciences, precision farming methods, food safety standards, agricultural business models and technologies are all covered.

Fellows also get placed with private sector firms across input supplies, mechanization, logistics and distribution for intensive on-the-job training and networking. Structured apprenticeship contracts ensure exposure across core functional areas to develop enterprise management abilities.

Upon completion, fellows with viable plans are funded through $100,000 startup capital grants, loans and equity package and connected to investor communities to scale their ventures. These youth-led agribusinesses apply cutting edge solutions across production, processing, infrastructure and services to raise farmer incomes and productivity – catalyzing wider food systems transformation.

Our ambitious initiative inspires educated young Africans to build secure livelihoods and deploy their full dynamism advancing innovation and technology adoption across agriculture value chains. We invite potential funders to partner in unlocking this tremendous promise.
