But we’ve seen lives transform in just one harvest. With training, tools, and seeds, farmers increase yields by up to 40%. How to Adopt a Farmer
Your gift creates lasting change through a comprehensive training program
You adopt a farmer by sending in a one-time gift of $99 or a recurring monthly gift of $9.95
This gift is then used to pay for the farmer’s participation in our training program; a package which includes
- Days of in-person training
- On-farm visits and support
- Access to demonstration plots
- Viable seeds and materials
- Advisory support through harvest season
The Transformation Process
The farmer is then able to plant the right seeds well, and like we've seen before, realize at least a 40% increase in their harvest which allows them to have enough left over to sell and afford even more seeds for the next harvest. Every increased harvest leads to another and with it a better life for the farmer, their family and the community.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, Walisha Foundation is a registered 501 c3 with tax deductible donations.
Can I choose the farmer I adopt?
While you cannot choose a specific farmer, you get to learn about the farmers your support has helped after they go through the program. Working in the various provinces of Rwanda allows us to ensure a diverse cohort of farmers with every program. In 2024, 61% of farmers in our program were female and all famers came from communities that our data showed needed the help most.
How will I know my support is making an impact?
From the moment your gift is sent, you become part of the Walisha family, receiving periodic updates on your impact.

How long should I set the recurring donation for?
We’re on a mission to train 15,000 farmers so keep the recurring gift for as long as you can and you will see the change your gift is making in the periodic updates and the annual impact reports, we will share with you
